David Sbarra

David Sbarra, Ph.D., is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Arizona where he directs the Laboratory for Social Connectedness and Health and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses. His research focuses on how human health- both psychological and physical- is tied to our close relationships and has been featured in many popular press outlets, including the NTY Times, The Atlantic, and NPR. In 2014, he received the prestigious Herbert Weiner Early Career Award from the American Psychosomatic Society in recognition of his contributions to the study of close relationships and health. David is a clinical psychologist by training and maintains a private psychotherapy practice in Tucson.
