Find Your Focus: Camera and Photography Basics
Leave the green rectangle of “AUTO” in the dust! This course will tackle the technical functions of the camera, explain how and why to shoot in manual exposure, and help you apply these skills in a variety of settings. Whether you want to take better pictures of family, nail the game-winning play, or enter the scary world of OCF (you just Googled it, didn’t you), you will learn to develop your photography skills in a collaborative, supportive atmosphere.
Each 2-hour class will incorporate lecture, hands-on instruction, and time for questions.
Students should bring their own single-lens reflex (SLR) cameras with manual function, speedlites (flashes), and additional telephoto lenses (if possible).
The instructor strongly recommends a DSLR camera capable of 10+ megapixel output and manual controls.
Weekly photo assignments and challenges will be introduced as students learn and build comfort with the technical and compositional elements of photography.
A finalized syllabus and more information about how and where to access any reading assignments will be available prior to the beginning of the course, per instructors’ directions.
